Investigation continues into road-rage stabbing in Glendenning

Police continue to appeal for witnesses and anyone with dashcam vision following a road-rage related stabbing in Sydney’s west yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 4.30pm (Friday 30 November 2018), a 42-year-old man was driving his Toyota Hilux on Richmond Road, Glendenning, when he drove onto the southbound lanes of the M7 motorway.

A short time later, the driver of an orange coloured Toyota Corolla threw something at his vehicle.

The two vehicles came to a stop and the drivers confronted each other. The driver of the Corolla produced a knife and stabbed the Hilux driver to his abdomen.

The man then got back into the Corolla and drove off at high speed in a southbound direction on the M7.

The victim got back in his vehicle and attempted to drive to Blacktown Hospital. His passenger contacted Triple Zero on the way to hospital, and they stopped on Bungarribee Road, Doonside, until the arrival of an ambulance.

He was taken to Westmead Hospital for emergency surgery and is now understood to be in a stable condition.

Officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command have commenced inquiries into the incident.

The driver of the Corolla has been described as Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, about 20 years old, chubby build, short in height, and he was wearing a high-vis shirt.

Police are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone who may have dashcam vision that may depict the incident, or the offender’s vehicle, to come forward.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
