Investigation into Bentleigh helmet theft continues

Glen Eira detectives continue to investigate the theft of two helmets from a motorcycle retail store in Bentleigh on Thursday, Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told a man exited a silver BMW and entered the Nepean Highway store where he selected two helmets about 1pm.

The man left the store without paying and was chased by staff before being caught.

The BMW, now being driven by a woman with a man in the back seat, drove up to the scuffle and the rear passenger produced a firearm and threatened the staff members.

The silver BMW sedan has since removed the plates and a current registration number is not known.

The man who entered the store and stole the helmets is described as Caucasian, mid 20s, about 175-180cm tall with short dark wavy hair.

He was wearing a black long sleeved t-shirt with white emblems on both upper sleeves and front left breast and back, light denim skinny jeans, and blue Nike runners.

The second man who produced the firearm is described as Middle Eastern in appearance, about 170cm tall with short black hair and a beard.

He was wearing a white t-shirt, black jeans and distinctive red runners.

The woman is described as aged in her mid 20’s, with dark long hair, wearing a royal blue hooded top.

Police have released an image of a man that they believe may be able to assist with their enquires.
