Investigation into Carlton fire continues

Melbourne North Crime Investigation Unit detectives are continuing to investigate a suspicious fire at a restaurant in Carlton last year, Victoria Police say.

Emergency services were called to the Lygon Street restaurant near Beard Place about 12.50am on 2 October.

Neighbouring homes were forced to evacuate, with the building extensively damaged.

Investigators have received reports of a man wearing a breathing mask, dark clothing and white gloves, who was running from Beard Place around the time of the fire.

Police have released a facial composite and an image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Investigators are also appealing for an anonymous caller who contacted Crime Stoppers.
