Investigation into Maroubra murder continues, NSW

Police are appealing for information as their investigation continues into the stabbing murder of a man in a vehicle in Sydney’s Eastern Beaches last week, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to Mons Avenue, Maroubra, about 9.45pm last Wednesday (21 June 2017), after the body of a man was located in a small white 1990s-model Ford Laser.

The man has been formally identified as 68-year-old, Peter Hoffman.

A post mortem concluded Mr Hoffman died as a result of multiple stab wounds.

Detectives from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad have established Strike Force Perrey to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr Hoffman’s murder.

As part of their ongoing investigations, strike force officers executed a crime scene warrant in Portland Crescent, Maroubra, about 11.30am today.

The operation will include an extensive line search by officers from Central Metropolitan Region Operations Support Group.

Investigators are following numerous lines of inquiry resulting from information from the community, and are continuing to appeal for information that may assist the investigation.

In particular, they would like to speak with members of the community who saw anyone acting suspiciously in or near Coral Sea Park on Yorktown Parade, Maroubra, on Wednesday evening.

Police are urging anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Perrey investigators to call Crime Stoppers.
