Investigation into Port Lincoln incident, SA

Police are investigating after a woman was stabbed this afternoon in Port Lincoln, according to SA Police.

Just before 5.20pm, Tuesday 10 October, police and emergency services were called to a business on Liverpool Street after reports a woman had been stabbed in the hand by a man before he left the scene in a vehicle.

The victim, a 37-year-old Port Lincoln woman, was taken to the Port Lincoln Hospital where she received treatment of her injuries and was released a short time later.

Police located the man’s car parked at a nearby hotel and spoke to staff who confirmed the man was staying at the premises. Local police attempted to make contact with the man in his room, however STAR group officers were notified and attended when the man failed to respond to police direction.

At 9.30pm STAR group officers entered the room where they found the man unconscious. He has been taken to hospital in a critical condition and will be airlifted to Adelaide this evening.

Although the investigation is in its early stages police believe the incident was not random.
