Investigation underway after woman seriously injured in crash in the Hunter, NSW

An investigation is underway into serious car crash in the Hunter region, where a woman was ejected through the windscreen and suffered serious injuries, NSW Police say.

Just before 9pm yesterday (Thursday 16 August 2018), police and emergency services were contacted after a woman was located by a passing motorist lying in front of her Ford Falcon, which had crashed into a pole on Old Maitland Road, Bishops Bridge.

The 36-year-old woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

Old Maitland Road was closed for more than eight hours while officers from Newcastle Crash Investigation Unit and Hunter Valley Police District conducted inquiries.

Initial inquiries indicate another vehicle may have been involved in the crash, and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

In particular, they are keen to speak with anyone who may have been driving in the area around the time of the crash and saw her red Ford Falcon.

Investigators are also urging locals to review dash cam vision if they were travelling in the area around that time.

Vision can be uploaded to the online Crime Stoppers.
