Investigation underway into armed robbery in Camperdown

Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery at a general store in Sydney’s inner west, NSW Police say.

Just after 7pm yesterday (Friday 6 April 2018), a man entered the store in Australia Street, Camperdown, armed with a knife.

The man confronted a female staff member and chased her onto nearby Eton Lane, threatening her with the knife.

She was not physically injured and managed to run to a nearby property and alert police.

The man stole cigarettes from the store and was last seen running down Eton Lane.

Officers from Inner West Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Investigators wish to speak with a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He has been described as being of Caucasian appearance, 180cm tall, with a thin to medium build, wearing a black hooded jumper, long grey pants and sneakers.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
