Investigation underway into death of woman at Albury

A report will be prepared for the Coroner following the death of a woman at Albury yesterday.

Just after 10.30am (Sunday 21 July 2019), emergency services responded following reports a 46-year-old woman had collapsed while in a taxi at the intersection of Smollet and Young Streets, Albury.

Police were told the woman's wheelchair moved while the taxi was in motion causing her to fall.

While the driver and a passer-by, who is a medic, were rendering first aid, the woman collapsed and stopped breathing.

Officers from Murray River Police District arrived a short time later and assisted the medic with CPR until the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics.

Despite their efforts, the woman could not be revived and died at the scene.

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death are underway.
