Investigation underway into fatal crash in Aberdeen

Police are investigating a fatal crash in the Hunter region overnight, NSW Police say.

About 11.50pm (Sunday 11 February 2018), emergency services were called to the New England Highway, Aberdeen, following reports of a three-vehicle crash.

The driver of a Toyota Camry, a man believed to be aged in his 20s, died at the scene.

The passenger, a woman, suffered minor injuries and was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

The driver of a Toyota Prado suffered serious injuries to his legs and was taken to John Hunter Hospital.

Two dogs were inside the Prado with one suffering injuries to its leg. It was taken to a nearby veterinary clinic. The other dog was not injured.

The occupants of the third vehicle, a Mazda hatchback, were not injured.

Officers from the Hunter Valley Police District and the Crash Investigation Unit established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
