Investigation underway into suspicious house fire at Warilla

Police are appealing for information after a house fire, which is believed to have been deliberately lit, in the Illawarra last night.

About 10.30pm (Saturday 24 August 2019), emergency services responded following reports of a home on fire on O’Reilly Street, Warilla.

Fire and Rescue NSW fire fighters extinguished the blaze a short time after arrival.

Police established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

An investigation is now underway, and police are appealing for information from the community that may assist with their inquiries.

In particular they are hoping to speak with anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity throughout the evening, particularly in the lead-up to the fire.
