Investigation Underway Over Needlestick Injury in Port Macquarie

An investigation is underway after a child sustained a needlestick injury at a public restroom on Koala Street, Port Macquarie, over the weekend.

About 11.55am on Sunday 27 August 2023, the boy received the needlestick injury to his hand while using the toilet.

Police have been told that the needle, still attached to a syringe, was rolled into the toilet tissue roll.

The 8-year-old boy was then taken to Port Macquarie Hospital for treatment.

Police from the Mid North Coast Police District have since been notified and have commenced an investigation into the incident.
