Investigations continue into Apollo Bay bus crash

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a bus crash in Apollo Bay last night which claimed the life of a man, Victoria Police say.

It is believed the bus, towing a trailer, was travelling west on the Great Ocean Road when it left the road and rolled before crashing into a tree just after 5pm.

A 38-year-old man died at the scene and a second person was trapped beneath the bus before being freed and taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The driver, a 49-year-old man, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The remaining 27 occupants are being treated for minor injuries at various hospitals.

The Great Ocean Road remains closed and Major Collision Investigation unit detectives will return to the scene this morning to continue their investigation.
