Investigations into Greenacre crash continue

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit continue their inquiries into a crash that left fourteen pedestrians with injuries at Greenacre yesterday.

Just before 3.15pm (Thursday 21 May 2020), emergency services were called to the intersection of Boronia and Waterloo Roads, Greenacre, after reports of a crash.

A Mitsubishi SUV crashed into a vehicle stopped at the traffic lights before continuing into a nearby shop.

A total of fourteen people were treated at the scene before being taken to Liverpool, Bankstown, and Canterbury hospitals for a range of non-life-threatening injuries.

The Mitsubishi driver, a 51-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Liverpool Hospital for further assessment. He also underwent mandatory testing.

Upon his release from hospital, he was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was interviewed by officers from the Crash Investigation Unit, and later released.

As investigations continue, police are calling for witnesses to the crash, or anyone who may have dash cam vision of the incident to come forward.
