Investigators seek assistance over armed bank robbery on Northern Beaches, NSW

Police are seeking assistance from the community to identify a man who may be able to assist with inquiries into an armed bank robbery on the Northern Beaches more than 12 months ago.

About 2.40pm on Thursday 4 January 2018, a man entered a bank on Pittwater Road, Brookvale, and threatened a female staff member with a large knife, demanding cash.

The man then approached the open tellers and stole cash before fleeing from the store on foot. He was last seen heading south on Pittwater Road.

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended a short time after and established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

The investigation is now being led by detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad under Strike Force Badana.

As their inquiries continue, strike force investigators have releases CCTV vision of a man, who they believe may be able to assist with inquiries.

The man is depicted as being of Caucasian appearance, aged is his late 30s or early 40s, about 180cm tall with a muscular build.

At the time he was wearing a brown long-sleeved t-shirt, white shorts, and light-coloured sneakers, with a patterned orange bandana covering the top of his head and dark sunglasses. The vision depicts him carrying a light-coloured bag with dark straps.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who recognises the man, or who was in the area at the time of the incident and has not yet spoken with police, to come forward.
