Investing in local projects for Wynyard

Tasmania's Wynyard region will receive more than $2million worth of local projects thanks to Federal Liberal and Nationals Government funding.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said $1.365million will be invested in an all-abilities playground at Anzac Park in Somerset.

"This is a thriving little community and we want to make sure families have a safe and fun place to spend time outside with their children," Mr McCormack said.

Liberal Senator for Tasmania Richard Colbeck said the Government is also investing $75,000 to upgrade the Wynyard Golf Club.

"A new shed will be built, the workshop will be upgraded, a disabled toilet will be installed in the clubroom, along with water solutions and the construction of a walkway," Senator Colbeck said.

The Nationals' Senator for Tasmania Steve Martin said a further $5,000 will be spent re-connecting the Coastal FM power line to a transmitter, which was damaged during a storm.

"This is part of my agenda of getting a fair share for regional Tasmania and a concrete example of the Nationals in government building stronger Tasmanian communities," Senator Martin said.
