ISEE Churches Unite in Grief After Bondi Tragedy

iSEE Churches – Pastor Paul Geerling, Senior Pastor

The tragic and deeply disturbing events at Bondi have shaken our nation and grieved hearts across Australia and beyond.

On behalf of iSEE Churches, I extend our deepest felt condolences to the victims, their families, and all those affected by this senseless act of violence. Our thoughts, prayers and love are with every person who is mourning, traumatised or struggling to comprehend the loss that has occurred.

Violence of this nature has no place in our society. Acts driven by hatred, extremism or prejudice stand in direct opposition to the value and dignity of human life and the kind of community we all long to see.

We want to be absolutely clear: antisemitism is wrong, dangerous and has no place in Australia or anywhere in the world. Hatred or violence directed toward Jewish people—or toward any faith, ethnic or cultural group—is unacceptable and must be rejected without hesitation or qualification.

As a church movement committed to seeing people, loving people and serving people, iSEE Churches stands with the Jewish community in this moment of grief and concern. We reaffirm our commitment to peace, compassion, and the inherent worth of every person.

This Sunday, across all iSEE Churches congregations, we will observe a minute of silence and a dedicated time of prayer, honouring the victims, praying for their families and loved ones, and asking God to bring comfort, healing and peace.

We also pray for first responders, medical teams and community leaders, and for a renewed resolve across our nation to resist hatred and choose love, unity and understanding.

In moments like these, we believe it is vital that people of faith and goodwill stand together—clearly, courageously and compassionately.
