IY2019: Learning from the past

Many sources of colonial history include records of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and significant documentation of Indigenous languages.

This includes Indigenous languages documented by expeditioners on Cook’s voyages. These historical insights still have relevance to the revival and maintenance of Australia’s languages.
