Jane Fitzgerald appointed Chief Operating Officer

The Property Council of Australia has announced that Jane Fitzgerald has been appointed as the organisation's new Chief Operating Officer, taking over from Kathy Mac Dermott who will leave the role in July.

Ms Fitzgerald has been the Property Council's NSW Executive Director for five years following a series of senior executive roles in the federal and NSW governments.

Property Council Chief Executive Ken Morrison heralded the appointment.

"Jane has been a highly successful Executive Director and I'm delighted that she has agreed to take up this pivotal national leadership role," Mr Morrison said.

"We are fortunate to have a depth of executive talent in the organisation and Jane's appointment gives us a strong base to tackle the challenges and opportunities of a post-COVID world."

Jane Fitzgerald joined the Property Council as NSW Executive Director in 2016 and has grown the organisation's membership, profile and advocacy impact in that state. Prior to the Property Council, Jane held a series of senior public sector roles, including CEO of the Royal Commission into Trade Union Governance and Corruption, Assistant Secretary in the Federal AG's Department, Deputy DG of the NSW Ministry for Police and chief of staff to several NSW ministers.

Jane will move into the role in June, allowing a handover with outgoing COO Kathy Mac Dermott who will be leaving in July to pursue a portfolio of Board and consulting roles.

A search process will now commence for a new NSW Executive Director.
