Joint investigation leads to drug trafficking arrests, SA

Two men have been arrested following a joint investigation between police in South Australia, Victoria and the Northern Territory, with assistance from Australian Border Force, according to SA Police.

Just before 9.30am, Wednesday 23 August, police from SAPol’s Heavy Vehicle Enforcement Section intercepted two trucks travelling between Melbourne, Victoria and Darwin in the Northern Territory via Adelaide, South Australia.

With the assistance of Australian Border Force officers, police searched the trucks and will allege they located about five kilograms of cannabis and over $30,000 cash.

As a result of the seizure a 24-year-old Victorian man was arrested by VicPol in Melbourne and 56-year-old Northern Territory man was arrested by NTPol in Darwin on Friday 25 August.

Both men were charged with drug offences and will face court in their respective states at a later date.
