The Junction Arts Festival returns to Launceston today celebrating ten years of arts, entertainment, music and culture in Northern Tasmania.
Launceston Mayor Albert van Zetten said Junction's tenth birthday was a significant milestone worthy of celebration.
"The Junction Arts Festival has become a staple on the Launceston events calendar, and it's a credit to the organisers and volunteers who work so hard to make it happen every year," Mayor van Zetten said.
"Congratulations to the Junction team on the festival's return to Launceston in 2021, and I look forward to another ten years of wonderful artistic performances and entertainment.
"Once again Launceston's Princes Square will be the hub for a jam packed program, and I encourage all Northern Tasmanians to get along and support Junction in its tenth year."
Launceston Deputy Mayor Danny Gibson said the Junction Arts Festival was a celebration of Launceston's cultural fabric.
"The City of Launceston has been a proud and long-term supporter of Junction Arts Festival through its events sponsorship program, because of the key role it plays in promoting the arts in Northern Tasmania," Deputy Mayor Gibson said.
"It's shaping up to be another great festival in Launceston this week with the arts front and centre and we wish the Junction Arts Festival a very happy tenth birthday.
"At a time where the city is placing renewed emphasis on place-making, the roll-out of our Cultural Strategy, and the social and economic return large-scale events can have during COVID, we encourage all Northern Tasmanians to get out there and support this event.
