Juvenile arrested over theft of excavator – Theft of an excavator – Yarrabilba

A boy has been arrested by police over the alleged theft of an excavator at Yarrabilba yesterday afternoon, Queensland Police say.

Around 4.50pm police were responding to a report of a Kobelco excavator worth $350,000.00 being stolen from a housing development site on Darlington Road.

On arrival police noticed a trail where the vehicle had been driven through fencing and destroying pine trees in the National Forest.

It was allegedly sighted travelling through the national park by Polair 2 who directed police to the vehicle on the ground.

Police approached and detained the male offender in the vehicle without incident.

The vehicle had sustained minor damage.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, wilful damage, trespass and receive tainted property.
