Police are seeking public assistance to locate the owner of a kayak and some fishing equipment that was found this afternoon near Burleigh Waters, Queensland Police say.
Just after midday, a member of the public located a red kayak (pictured) and a fishing rod around 500 meters off shore near First Avenue in Burleigh Waters.
Initial enquiries by police haven’t identified any missing or outstanding people in the area and water police and life savers on jetskis have patrolled around the area but have failed to locate anyone.
If anyone knows the owner of the kayak or has any information which may assist is being urged to contact police.
