Keeping training on target

Message from DCO Gregg Paterson AFSM, Executive Director Training

The numbers are in. We had more than 75,000 CFA people participate in training activities in the 2018-19 financial year.

Keeping training on target

The results, including an increase of nearly 13,000 participants in drill attendance, have been due to the commitment, dedication and diligence of people and our training team at district, region and state level.

It's great result to see so many people taking part in the training that keeps them safe on the fireground.

Included in these figures is online learning. More than 7,760 people completed training online in 2018/19. We believe that with the new adaptive training packages we're releasing, this will rise.

We will continue to work with you to understand what learning you want, what you are accessing online and what you would like included in online training.

Meanwhile more than 665 people are undertaking their TAE16 (Training and Assessment) upgrade (326 already complete).

By ensuring our trainers and assessors have the most up to date qualifications, we're able to provide a better service and training experience to all members and help to ensure that everyone is confident in their training on and off the fireground.

More than 100 more courses (including drills and classroom sessions) for TAE16 are planned to be delivered before the end of this calendar year.
