Townsville City Council is encouraging residents in low-lying areas to take precautions ahead of the king tide expected early next week.
The king tide is forecast to reach a peak of 3.84m at 7.58pm on Monday 16 September, with further king tides up to 3.90m at 8.30pm on Tuesday, and 3.80m at 9.06pm on Wednesday 18 September.
Council recommends residents in areas that are prone to minor flooding during high tides take necessary precautions.
Suburbs like South Townsville and Railway Estate may be impacted, along with Hanran Street and Ogden Street in the city.
Motorists are asked to observe any warnings and road closures.
