Townsville City Council is encouraging residents in low-lying areas to take precautions ahead of the king tide expected from this Friday.
The king tide is forecast to reach a peak of 3.84m at 8.11am on Friday 20 January 2023, with further king tides up to 4.12m until midday on Tuesday 24 January 2023.
Council recommends residents in areas that are prone to minor flooding during the tides take necessary precautions.
Suburbs like South Townsville and Railway Estate may be impacted, along with Hanran Street and Ogden Street in the city.
Motorists are asked to observe any warnings and road closures.
