Kingston's older residents are invited to connect, create and celebrate this October, with more than 100 free and low-cost events and workshops on offer as part of the annual Kingston Seniors Festival.
Running throughout October, the festival will offer a vibrant mix of activities and experiences, including author talks, social catch-ups, nature walks, retirement and aged care information sessions, movies, fashion, craft, fitness classes, live music, dancing, games and more.
Mayor Cr Georgina Oxley encouraged older residents to explore the program and give something new a go.
"The Seniors Festival is a great chance to get out, try something new, learn something, meet people and have some fun," Cr Oxley said.
"With more than 100 free and low-cost events and activities on offer, there really is something for everyone.
"But the Festival is about more than what's on the program, it's about people.
"Our older residents bring so much to Kingston through their knowledge, experience, stories, friendships and contributions to our community, and this is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate that while creating new connections.
"Staying socially connected is an important part of living a happy and healthy life. Sometimes it can be as simple as sharing a coffee, joining a group, learning something new or having a chat with someone you haven't met before.
"I encourage everyone to take a look through the program, find something that catches your eye and head along. You might discover a new interest, meet someone new or simply enjoy a great day out with friends."
The Kingston Seniors Festival is part of the statewide Victorian Seniors Festival, which runs throughout October.
Printed programs are available from Council's Customer Service Centre, Kingston Libraries, community centres and selected Coles and Woolworths supermarkets.
