Police have charged a 39-year-old Kingston woman with Dishonestly Acquiring a Financial Advantage from both Tennis Australia and Women’s Health Tasmania, Tasmania Police say.
In May 2018 police received a complaint from Tennis Australia regarding alleged frauds committed against their organisation by a former employee residing in Tasmania. A joint investigation between Tennis Australia’s Integrity & Compliance Unit and Tasmania Police’s Fraud & e-Crime Unit determined that Tennis Australia had been defrauded of a quantity of money.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police determined the woman had also defrauded Women’s Health Tasmania of a quantity of money during her volunteer role with them.
The woman was arrested and charged by police on Friday 6 July. She was bailed to appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court on 6 August.
