Townsville police have charged a 32-year-old Cosgrove man after a flick knife was located during a wanding operation in the Townsville CBD on 26 February.
Around 6.45pm, officers were conducting a proactive wanding operation on Victoria Bridge when a member of the public alleged the man was carrying a knife.
When approached by police to participate in a wanding, the man admitted to carrying the knife. The knife was seized by police.
The man was arrested and charged with one count of unlawful possession of a category M weapon, one count of fail to dispose of a needle and one count of possess property suspected of having being acquired for a drug offence.
He is scheduled to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on 19 March.
Police will continue to conduct regular wanding operations across the Townsville District as part of ongoing efforts to prevent knife-related crime and enhance community safety under preventative strategies such as Jacks Law.
