Labor fearmongering hurts Tasmania's renewable energy future

Guy Barnett,Minister for Energy

Labor's ridiculous and misinformed criticism of the Marinus Link business case is undermining Tasmania's opportunity for investment and jobs.

Former Labor minister for economic recession, David O'Byrne, has clearly not read the business case assessment and has demonstrated a clear misunderstanding of energy policy.

Yesterday's confirmation that Marinus Link is technically feasible and commercially viable enables the next steps, which includes determining the best business and financial approach that will maximise benefits for our state and ensure Tasmanians pay no more than our fair share.

While Labor is busy spreading misinformation, the Hodgman majority Liberal Government is backing Tasmania's energy future, which will deliver thousands of jobs, inject billions into the economy and put downward pressure on electricity prices.
