Jeremy Rockliff and the Liberals are trying to sell Tasmania's future to pay off their massive $10 billion of debt.
When you privatise, prices go up, jobs go offshore and dividends that pay for schools and hospitals disappear.
Labor will legislate to stop any potential sale of Aurora Energy.
As it stands, the Liberals could sell Aurora Energy tomorrow without a vote of Parliament. Labor's legislation will bring Aurora in line with the other GBEs that require the approval of both houses of parliament to be sold or partially privatised.
Privatisation leads to increased costs and reduced services. Profits would go to the private sector instead of funding for our schools, hospitals, and essential services.
Labor stands for safe, secure and well paid jobs. Jeremy Rockliff's plan to privatise Aurora will place hundreds of jobs at risk and we won't let him get away with it.
Tasmanians overwhelmingly oppose Jeremy Rockliff's privatisation plans, because they know that selling off Aurora could send power bills skyrocketing. Why should Tasmanians have to pay the price because Jeremy Rockliff can't manage money?
