Labor will fund a Tasmanian netball team

    Shadow Minister for Sport David O'Byrne said Tasmania's netball community deserved a team in the national competition.

    "Tasmania deserves a team in the Suncorp Super Netball and a majority Labor Government will provide the funding to help deliver one," Mr O'Byrne said.

    "Netball is an incredibly popular sport in our state and both players and supporters are right in feeling they have been left out of the discussion when it comes to participation in national leagues.

    "Labor will deliver funding of $1 million per annum for a Tasmanian Suncorp Super Netball team."

    Mr O'Byrne said Labor will also provide crucial funding to Netball Tasmania.

    "A Labor Government will invest $250,000 to provide Netball Tasmania with a clear facility need analysis assessment.

    "This funding will help Netball Tasmania create a pathway into the future and create better outcomes for Tasmanian netball players and supporters.

    "Labor is working for Tasmanians to deliver healthy, active and better-connected communities."
