Labor's Corporate Travel Bill Hits $1 Million Week

Liberal Party Victoria
The Allan Labor Government is charging Victorian taxpayers $1 million a week for public service corporate travel service costs, new documents have revealed.

Under a recent State Purchase Contract, the Victorian Government will pay $200 million to provider Corporate Travel Management Group for Travel Management Services between March 2025 and February 2029 - a rate of almost $1 million a week.

The contracted services include travel bookings, securing airfares, hotel and transport rental prices, account management and travel data reporting for all Victorian Government Departments.

Following a decade of financial mismanagement under Labor, Victoria has the highest taxes, highest unemployment and lowest credit rating of any state in the nation as net debt grows by more than $2 million an hour.

Shadow Treasurer, Jess Wilson, said "This contract reflects how out of touch the Allan Labor Government has become.

"Instead of spending $1 million a week chauffeuring public servants interstate and overseas, that money should be going into our schools, hospitals and roads while reducing the tax burden on Victorian households and businesses.

"For once can the Treasurer demonstrate some financial restraint? The Allan Labor Government should be putting a stop to all non-essential travel given Victoria's financial crisis.

"With Victoria's net debt growing by $2 million an hour, spending such a significant amount of taxpayers' money on corporate travel services demonstrates Labor's priorities are all wrong.

"Labor cannot manage money and Victorians are paying the price."
