Guy Barnett,Minister for Energy
Good Governments are good economic managers, something the shadow Treasurer fails to understand.
We listen to our businesses, we read the markets and we prepare for the future.
The National Electricity Market is a fast, evolving complex challenge. If we followed the lead of David O'Byrne, we'd be doing nothing for Tasmania – we'd be stuck in the dark ages.
Instead, we are building new job-creating infrastructure and ground breaking renewable energy projects.
Importantly, I am assured Hydro will take the utmost care when working with, training and supporting any displaced workers, and under any potential sale of Momentum, it will be a condition of sale that its 80 jobs will be protected.
Mr O'Byrne seems to so quickly forget but in 2011, under the Labor Government he was a part of, the state sold 75 percent of its stakes in its three Woolnorth wind farms, essentially divesting its majority ownership position.
