Labor's Power Price Shock: Bills Soar 16.2 Per Cent

Liberal Party Victoria

The latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) reveal a significant surge in Victorian electricity costs.

Electricity price hikes in Melbourne were also one of the major contributors to the CPI rise.

Shadow Minister for Energy, David Davis, said: "Labor has botched energy policy, allowing electricity prices to surge. Households and businesses are already under strain from the cost-of-living crisis, and these Labor-driven price hikes are making it worse."

"These skyrocketing power bills are squeezing Victorian families until the pips squeak.

"How does a 16.2 per cent surge in electricity costs help families? It's time Labor woke up and stopped fuelling these price pressures.

"When asked in Parliament last week about the ABS figures, Labor's Treasurer, Jaclyn Symes, refused to respond directly to the 16.2 per cent electricity price increase hitting families and businesses.

"Under Labor, rising energy costs will continue to hurt Victorian households and businesses."

"Labor can't manage money, can't manage energy and all Victorians are paying the price"
