Lakes Entrance Ambulance Thanks Donor for Gift

It was far from a routine market day for the Lakes Entrance Ambulance Auxiliary last month, when an unexpected $1,000 donation was received from The Lions Club of Gippsland Lakes Lionesses.

The generous and heartfelt show of community support turned heads and pages while auxiliary members were running their regular book stall.

Lakes Entrance Ambulance Auxiliary President Avis Salisbury said the ongoing, unwavering local support was heartwarming.

"We're always extremely grateful for any donation - big or small - as every bit makes a difference," she said.

"This donation will help to support our Ambulance Victoria (AV) paramedics and first responders to continue to deliver best care across Lakes Entrance and in nearby communities by enhancing their equipment and training.

"We're very thankful for our fantastic community who continue to do so much to support our auxiliary and ambulance branch."

Ambulance auxiliaries play an integral role in providing their local branches and community with equipment and education, in addition to raising awareness of AV and the work of its people.

"The auxiliary's great reputation within our community has contributed to the success of the branch," AV Lakes Entrance Acting Team Manager Bryn Smith said.

"Auxiliary donations continue to bolster the resources and training our Advanced Life Support paramedics receive, helping us provide best care to the community.

The Lakes Entrance Ambulance Auxiliary hold a second-hand book stall at The Lions Club of Gippsland Lakes Lionesses indoor market.

As well as selling second-hand books, the auxiliary uses the stall to spread important health education within the community and recruit auxiliary members.

Currently, there are about 350 people who volunteer across more than 40 AV auxiliaries in Victoria.
