The Parkes community is being encouraged to have their say as the last week of consultation on the proposed Parkes bypass kicks off.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, Leader of The Nationals, and Federal Member for Riverina Michael McCormack said community consultation had been underway since 1 July.
"The bypass will deliver huge benefits for the community, including travel time savings, improved amenity and increased safety and access," Mr McCormack said.
"It will involve building a 10.5 kilometre bypass of the Newell Highway on the western outskirts of Parkes, removing up to 1200 trucks a day from local streets.
NSW Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said Transport for NSW had met with more than 600 people during the submission period.
"This feedback from the community, road users, and other interested parties is an important step in developing the final design of the Parkes bypass," Mr Toole said.
"This is a project that promises to reduce travel time up to 10 minutes, benefitting motorists and truckies and boosting freight efficiency.
"Feedback on the project can be provided until Friday 9 August and all submissions will be addressed in a submissions report which will be used to guide the final project design."
Information sessions will be held on Thursday 8 August at Clarinda Street in Parkes between 11am and 2pm and at the Parkes Arbour between 3pm and 6pm.
