Latest on major road closures due to flooding at 11:15am

Sturt Highway is now closed between Darlington Point and Wagga Wagga due to flooding.

Sturt Highway (Hammond Avenue) remains closed at East Wagga Wagga,

Oxley Highway has reopened at Warren to 4WDs and heavy vehicles only, between 6am and 7:30pm daily, but remains closed to light vehicles.

Motorists who need to travel in flood affected areas are advised to take extreme care, never drive through floodwaters and be prepared for conditions to change quickly.

In the Central West and South:

  • The Newell Highway (Sherriff Street) is closed at Forbes.
  • The Newell Highway is closed between Forbes and Wyalong.
  • The Newell Highway is also closed between Gillenbah and Jerilderie.
  • Lachlan Valley Way is closed between Forbes and Cowra, between Legh Street and Morongla Road in Cowra, as well as between Forbes and Jemalong.
  • Henry Lawson Way is closed between Forbes and Grenfell.
  • The Escort Way is closed between Forbes and Eugowra.
  • The Mid Western Highway is closed between West Wyalong and Goolgowi.
  • Kidman Way is closed at Wallanthery.
  • North of Corowa, the Riverina Highway is closed at Coreen.
  • The Riverina Highway and Federation Way are closed between Hopefield and Urana.

In the State's North:

  • The Kamilaroi Highway remains closed between Walgett and Burren Junction, between Walgett and Bourke, as well as between Gunnedah and Boggabri.
  • The Castlereagh Highway is closed between Walgett and Lightning Ridge, and also between Walgett and Wingadee (north of Coonamble).
  • The Gwydir Highway is closed between between Walgett and Collarenebri, and between Collarenebri and Moree.
  • The Carnarvon Highway is closed between Garah and Mungindi.

In the North West:

  • The Cobb Highway is closed between Wilcannia and Booligal.

In addition to state managed roads, some local roads managed by councils may also be affected.
