Launceston CIB investigations

Launceston CIB would like to thank members of the public and Crime Stoppers Tasmania for their assistance in resolving a number of robberies in Launceston this week.

Launceston CIB have charged a 16-year-old male youth from Riverside with the attempted robbery of McDonalds at Invermay on 16 September. Detectives have also charged an 18-year-old man of no fixed address with the armed robbery at Coles Supermarket at Kings Meadows on 7 September. Both incidents involved a knife.

Police are continuing to investigate a third robbery committed at Mowbray Pizza Hut around 8.30pm on 11 September. Anyone with information in relation to that robbery is asked to come forward. The person responsible is described as:

  • Male
  • Mid 20's
  • Brown trousers and dark jacket
  • Face covered with a scarf
  • Wearing dark glasses
  • Carrying a dark bag.

Police would also like to speak to anyone who saw a dark blue sedan in the area at the time of the robbery. Anyone with information is asked to contact Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
