A 21-year-old Launceston man has been arrested in relation to the shooting of a 29-year-old man at Newnham yesterday morning.
The man has been charged with aggravated carjacking and firearms offences resulting from an unrelated matter. He was detained in custody to appear before the Launceston Magistrates Court today.
At this stage no charges have been laid regarding the Newnham shooting incident. Police investigations into that matter are ongoing.
The victim of the shooting remains at the Launceston General Hospital in a stable condition. He continues to be uncooperative with police.
