Transurban and Brisbane City Council celebrated a major milestone during Legacy Week (31 August - 6 September 2025) with over $1 million donated to Legacy Brisbane since Legacy Way opened a decade ago. Every trip through the tunnel contributes 1 cent from each toll to support veteran families across Greater Brisbane.
These funds help families access education, stay connected, and receive essential care, honoring the service of those who've served.
To mark the occasion, Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner visited Transurban's traffic control room to meet the team ensuring the tunnel operates safely 24/7.
"Legacy Week is a powerful reminder of our veterans' sacrifice, and we are proud to continue to support them," said the Lord Mayor.
"This year's grant of more than $120,000 is our largest contribution to-date and a clear reflection of our ongoing commitment to this cause.
"Every dollar granted helps ease the cost-of-living pressures for our veterans and their families.
"Legacy Way is not just vital infrastructure to keep Brisbane moving, it is a lasting symbol of recognition and respect."
Transurban Group Executive, Sarah Hack said "We're proud to celebrate this million dollar milestone. It's a powerful reminder of how infrastructure can delivery lasting community value, an achievement made possible by every single motorist who uses the tunnel."
CEO of Legacy Brisbane, Brendan Cox said "This partnership has enabled us to reach more families and provide the kind of support that honours the service and sacrifice of our veterans."
Since opening, more than 76 million vehicles have travelled through the Legacy Way tunnel, with around 26,000 vehicles using the tunnel daily, saving drivers up to 10 minutes in travel time in peak.
As Legacy Way enters its second decade, the partnership remains committed to supporting the community both on and off the road.
