Leyonhjelm the last line of defence for women

Senator David Leyonhjelm has used his remaining days in the Senate to again call for the legalisation of pepper spray, in his unshakeable quest to give vulnerable people the opportunity to defend themselves from criminals.

The Liberal Democrats' motion, put to the Senate yesterday, acknowledged the latest spate of high-profile violent attacks, specifically against women, and called for the legalisation of pepper spray.

"While other politicians offer thoughts and prayers following each rape and murder of an innocent victim, I actually want to give people the option to defend themselves if they choose," Senator Leyonhjelm said.

"We all know that when seconds count, police are minutes away. We also know that there are bad people out there who are intent on violence against women and the vulnerable. Legalising pepper spray is a simple step we can take to prevent and deter these thugs, murderers and rapists from such vile actions.
