Liberals continue to fail Tasmania's most vulnerable

Tasmanian Labor
  • Staff and patients at The Roy Fagan Centre are at serious risk
  • Hodgman Government more interested in delivering $450 million budget cuts
  • Vulnerable Tasmanians the victims of the Government's poor economic management
  • The Government's failure to fix a faulty duress alarm system at Tasmania's only psychiatric facility for the elderly is emblematic of the Liberals' failure to properly invest in health services.

Shadow Minister for Health, Sarah Lovell, said the situation at The Roy Fagan Centre was distressing and reports like it were only going to become more frequent.

"Everyone knows the health system is in crisis," Ms Lovell said

"The Hodgman Government is more interested in delivering $450 million budget cuts than it is in looking after Tasmanians.

"Staff and patients at The Roy Fagan Centre are currently at high risk of injury, which could be avoided if the Government wasn't so focused on budget cuts.

"Will Hodgman's priorities are clear: if it's a choice between looking after Tasmanians or dodging an embarrassing budget deficit, he'll choose the latter every time.

"Vulnerable Tasmanians should not have to bear the consequences of the Government's poor economic management."
