Liberals must come clean on its public service slash and burn agenda

Tasmanian Labor
  • Treasurer yet to reveal which jobs will be on the chopping block
  • New financial year and Tasmanians remain in the dark
  • Liberal razor gang members still kept top secret
  • Tasmanians are still no closer to finding out which jobs are on the chopping block as part of the minority Liberal Government's $450 million cuts forecast in the Budget.

Shadow Treasurer, Scott Bacon, said more than a month since the Budget was handed down and the Treasurer Peter Gutwein seemed determined to keep his public service slash and burn program hidden from the community.

"Here we are now eight days into a new financial year with new Ministers appointed to key portfolio areas and the Treasurer is yet to reveal what jobs will be lost as a result of the Government's poor financial management," Mr Bacon said.

"The Treasurer must inform Tasmanians if the struggling areas of health and housing will be subject to cuts when they can least afford it.

"It's time the Treasurer came clean on these $450 million cuts and also revealed who is on its budget razor gang.

"People deserve to know who will make decisions about job cuts and they deserve to know why."
