Life under Labor gets harder as energy bills spike

Liberal Party Victoria

Confirmation that Victorians will suffer an up to 25 per cent increase in power prices comes at the worst possible time for households and businesses.

The Essential Services Commission has confirmed this change will result in an average increase of $352 for households and an average increase of $752 for small businesses.

These price increases come at the worst possible time for Victorians struggling to make ends meet and are the consequence of the Andrews Government's failure to deliver a real plan for more energy supply and a more secure network.

Shadow Minister for Energy and Resources, David Hodgett, said the Andrews Government had failed hardworking Victorian households and businesses.

"These massive price increases come at the worst possible time for Victorians who continue to pay the price for Labor's incompetence," Mr Hodgett said.

"Under Labor, life keeps getting harder and one-off payments won't deliver more secure energy supplies or fix the systemic issue in our transmission network.

"A hot shower and a warm home should never be an unaffordable luxury. Victorians need a real plan to deliver an energy system that secures supply and will keep prices low."
