Light plane crash at Parafield, SA

Police and emergency services are currently at the scene of a light plane crash near Parafield Airport, according to SA Police.

Just after 6pm on Tuesday 3 July, a light plane appears have struck power lines on approach to Parafield Airport and crash landed in a paddock just south of the airport.

Elder Smith Road is closed to all traffic between Main Street and Main North Road. Traffic lights at Elder Smith Road and Main North Road are out.

The pilot of the Cessna and only occupant is uninjured but is being taken to hospital to be medically assessed as a precaution.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.

Aviation authorities will conduct an investigation as to the circumstances surrounding the crash.
