Ocean Park Woonona is set to receive new lighting upgrades, delivering a brighter arena for local sporting groups and clubs.
Works have begun to install four new lighting poles at the main football field. In addition, the project will also reconfigure existing luminaries to provide improved lighting coverage to the neighbouring field.

"Winter sport is in full swing across Wollongong with many people braving the cold and chilly days and nights to train and play the game they love," Lord Mayor of Wollongong Councillor Tania Brown said.
"That's why upgrades at our outdoor sport spaces are so important for our community. It creates a safer playing environment and supports more playing time across a range of activities.
"I look forward to seeing the works be completed at Ocean Park and have the new lights provide a worthy limelight for everyone who takes the field."
With 220 playing fields across the Wollongong Local Government Area (LGA), Council is committed to maintaining and improving the quality and accessibility of these valued public spaces.
Through our annual Infrastructure Delivery Program , Council schedules a host of projects, such as sportsfield lighting, to meet the needs of our community.
In May 2026, we completed the lighting upgrades at Ray Robinson Oval, Towradgi (pictured below).
The Ocean Park project is expected to take two months to complete (weather and other conditions dependant) and will be switched on in September 2026.
Council is working with the users of the site, including Woonona Sharks Football Club.
