Lighting up Boronia Reserve

Sporting clubs in Hillside now have more time to train at Boronia Drive Recreation Reserve following the recent installation of oval lighting.

The $247,500 sports lighting project was co-funded by Melton City Council and the State Government.

The four new lights, which meet the Australian training and local level competition standard, now make it possible for clubs to use the ground after dark and cater for growing demand.

Mayor Cr Lara Carli said the lights have come at an opportune time, with existing clubs along the City of Melton's eastern corridor currently experiencing rapid growth in participation.

"These lights extend the playing opportunity for local sportspeople and this will make such a difference as the community grows," Cr Carli said.

"Being able to program in night training means that sporting clubs can get maximum use of this fantastic sporting facility.

"It's a great outcome and I'd like to thank the State Government for partnering with us to deliver the sports lighting project."
