Liverpool Pursuit Ends in Crash, Critical Incident Declared

A critical incident investigation has commenced after a woman was critically injured following a police pursuit and crash in Sydney south-west overnight.

Police were patrolling the Liverpool area about 11pm (Wednesday 10 December 2025), when they saw a Ford Ranger ute allegedly being driven at speed and through a red light on Elizabeth Drive.

Officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command directed the driver to stop; however, when they allegedly failed to do so, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit was terminated moments later due to safety concerns; however, police continued to monitor the vehicle.

Shortly after, police resumed the pursuit before the ute allegedly drove through a red light and struck a BMW sedan and a Toyota Yaris hatchback at the intersection of the Hume Highway and Moore Street.

The passenger in the sedan – a 21-year-old woman – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

The female driver of the sedan – also aged 21 – and a third woman in the car were treated at the scene and taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the hatchback was checked at hospital as a precaution and has been released.

The alleged driver of the stolen ute – a 17-year-old male – has been taken to Fairfield Hospital to be checked as a precaution; it's expected he will be taken to Liverpool Police Station once released.

Checks have since revealed the ute was reported stolen from Liverpool last Tuesday (9 December 2025).

Strike Force Bennington has been established with an independent critical incident team from Burwood Police Area Command to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation will be subject of an independent review by the Professional Standards Command and oversight by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.
