Loaded gun, cocaine, cash seized after near-miss at Granville, NSW

A loaded handgun, cocaine and cash have been seized after a teenage driver almost collided with a police car at Granville overnight, NSW Police say.

Officers attached to Strike Force Raptor were patrolling Aubrey Street about 7.40pm (Friday 6 July 2018), when a vehicle entered from a side street, allegedly almost hitting the police vehicle.

The driver pulled over to the side of the road, got out and was walking away when officers stopped him.

A loaded Glock, cocaine, prescription drugs and almost $4500 in cash was seized during a search of the vehicle, and the driver was arrested.

The 19-year-old man was taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with 10 offences

• Possess loaded firearm in a public place

• Possess unregistered unauthorised pistol in a public place

• Possess unauthorised pistol

• Possess unregistered firearm (pistol)

• Use, supply, acquire or possess defaced firearm

• Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority

• Not keep firearm safely (pistol)

• Supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity/not cannabis)

• Possess a prohibited drug, and

• Knowingly deal with the proceeds of crime.

The teen, from South Granville, has been refused bail overnight to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 7 July 2018).
