Loaded pistol seized, man charged in Erina

A man will appear in court after he was allegedly located in possession of a loaded pistol in Erina this morning, NSW Police say.

About 3.30am today, police approached a vehicle stopped at a car park of a carpet business at the intersection of the Central Coast Highway and Avoca Drive.

Police spoke to the driver, a 64-year-old man, and his passenger, a 39-year-old man.

A search of the older man resulted in police seizing a loaded .22 calibre revolver, ammunition, and an extendable baton.

The vehicle was searched, which allegedly contained two machetes, and mobile phones.

The two men were arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station.

The 64-year-old man was charged with posses loaded firearm in public place, possess unauthorised pistol, possess ammunition without permit and possess prohibited weapon.

The man was refused bail to appear before Gosford Local Court today.

The younger man was released pending further inquiries.
